Thai Food

If you visit Thailand, read about Thailand, talk about Thailand, one thing high in agenda is Food. While I was in Krabi, I read about an interesting article on some thumb of rules when you go out to find the best Thai Kitchen. Here are some of them...

1. High price = bad food
2. Low Price + lots of Thai People = Good Food (Be suspicious if they charge you more than 40 Baht for a dish!)
3. Nice looking and very inviting set up = bad food
4. Waitress in "Traditional" Thai clothes = bad food
5. Cook, Waiters and Waitress dressed in T-shirts washed in non-environmental protecting detergent 500 times = good food
6. If they dont have a restaurant at all but just a small stainless trolley with a gas burner = excellence food
7. Impossible to determine if it is a beef, pork, chicken or fish on your plate = good food
8. If you ask for a wine list and they give you one = bad food
9. there is 2 litre plastic jug of water on the table and tin cups = good food

Well, there is no right or wrong. Give them a try, it may surprise you..

Yang Ming Shan - all about relaxation and recuperation

[i]

Yang Ming Shan is a collection of peaks in Taiwan, located to the norteast of Taipei.
The Yang Ming Shan National Park is famous for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, and hiking trails, including one over the extinct volcano Seven Star Mountain (Chising Mountain). We spent 3 days 2 night here and we were so please with its surrounding, its full with fesh mountain air, lush green hills and we have great time let our body melt away in the milky sulfur
bath. it was pretty cold and freezing on our day one there and thats kinda restricted our jungle trekking plan abit but we nevertheless gave it a try to some trekking but It was way too cold and windy in hilltop (its freezing) and the low visibility at last us only few hours there before we heading
for our hot spring bath.

But we were lucky still as it was sunny day the following days, we have great time trekking the Qixingshan (Seven Star Mountain) and withness the sulfur deposit and a few natural hot springs.
QiXingshan has an elevation of 1120 meters, and its peak is the highest point in Taipei City. The Bird's eye view from the top of mountain was really amazing.I love the scenery and the fresh mountain air though it was a bit windy at time. The mountain is characterized by tropical rainforest, whereas above 1000 meters, scrub-like trees and tall clumping grasses are the main form of vegetation. From far the clump of grass has eventually compose very nice view and landscape. Its lovely ;-)

Shihfen Waterfall - Taiwan

Shihfen Waterfall locates in Pingsi Town in Taipei County. It locates in the Shihfen stop of the Pingsi railroad and the bus stop of Dahua at the upper part of the waterfalls in Keelung River. We took the train from Taipei Main station to Rueifang Station and from there we took another train to Shihfen station. I was amazed by the beautiful and legendary scenery along the journey especially the scenery of keelung river valley, the entire journey took us around 1 hours and 5 minutes. From the station, we took 20 minutes walk to Shihfen Waterfall.

Shihfen waterfall is a great waterfall with the big force of the current vast. It is the greatest screen curtain style waterfall in Taiwan. The pond underneath the waterfall is very deep.(15 M). The power of the rushing water has modified the layers of rock formations, creating beautiful scenery and several clusters of waterfalls.I love the ambient around Shihfen, it is very quiet, cold, and clean, It is the best place of relaxing your mind and get our soul closer to the nature. Shihfen is definitely a destination not to miss !

A City of Thousand Years - Bangsean

Bangsaen in Thai mean a City of Thousand Years, it is located 14 kms from Chon Buri
City and only 104 kms from Bangkok. The beach here has been very popular among local tourists but not well known among foreigner, perhap she has been overshadowed by the well known Pattaya which is 40km away from here. Along the beach road there are a lot of coconut trees and small shops selling foods, souvenirs, etc.We drove from Bangkok, on the way we picked up another friend (Koh) from his university campus and we arrived here just before sun set. Koh has just finished his final thesis, so we had a small celebration here.. a seafood dinner ;-) The beach here is open to public until midnight and along the beach there are street lights, so it wont be too dark. It was interesting to swim in the sea at night, it was fun and advantures though

Blessing

I took this photo on Xmas'eve 2004 in Thailand, just a day before Tsunami disaster, it was an emotional one for me that i learnt the most about life, it was a blessing in disgushed that i had to leave the island and escaped but this little boy and many others may not....5,395 dead, 2,993 were still missing in Thailand....and tens of thousands of people in more than 11 countries.

If tears could build a highway and the memories were a lane,we would walk right up to heaven and probably bring them back again but yet the best we could, is to cope by accepting that we could not change that past, that we could only accept it and move forward stronger ever.. God bless you !
