A Moment Like this ...
|
|
A moment like this...
Last few weeks I got to know from a good friend of mine from the State that thing has been difficult for him and wife. His dad is not doing too well. He's not in any pain, but he is failing. They have
enrolled him in hospice care, which means that they won't try any longer to find out what is wrong because it is futile now. Instead they will concentrate on making him comfortable and
helping him enjoy the time he has. He's not interested in trying to extend his life; he is very tired.
Howard's dad had been to his house on Friday night for a dinner he cooked. His sister was visiting from New York City where she lives. On Sunday they had a nice dinner again at Howard house with his sister, wife, mother-in-law, some friends of his sister, and some of their friends who his dad had known for about 30 years. His dad said he wasn't hungry but would sit with them for the company. Then he ate every dish on the table!
On Monday Howard's dad mostly slept, only eating a bit of breakfast. Tuesday morning he woke up just a bit and went back to sleep. He died peacefully in his sleep a bit later in the morning.
The entire family feel lucky that he was able to be himself right up to the end. On Sunday night he chatted and joked as usual and had a great time being with people he cared for. He wasn't in any
pain at all, and was not even really uncomfortable that they could tell.
Still, it is very hard. Losing anyone you care for is tough, and a parent is especially hard..for a moment like this..i am so proud of Howard, He has done the best a son should !
Autumn is really lovely there in the state now as it gets cooler and the trees lose their
leaves, still, that a sad news i received. I am touched and broke in tear at the end....

Bukan sekadar suara...
|
|
Bukan lagi sekadar suaranya
Bukan lagi fantasi
Bukan lagi curiga
Bukan lagi awan yang terpilu
Bukan sekadar selagi ada
ataupun sekadar malaikat di luar jendela atau drama
Namun yang pastinya..
Dialah bintang yang senantiasa menyinar
dulu, sekarang dan akan datang...
Ning is always my fav singer ever..

Rite of passage
|
|
Not long ago..I had my breakfast on my birthday at this cool restaurant located at the riverbank of Mae Ping (Ping River), Chiangmai. I really love this place and like the atmophere too.. we had some satays and Khoa Soy (type of spicy noodle originally from Myamar).
I don't pay much attention to passages like birthdays though, but they keep happening anyway.
Although I am not at all religious, I try to be thankful for the good things in my life all the time, not just on occasions. It is easy to take things for granted and not to think just how lucky we are sometimes. The best thing in my life is the wonderful people who are part of my life.

Esan
|
|
The name for northeast Thailand food is Esan or Isan or Isarn, and that is the origin of the kind of food i had in Chiang Mai. There is no correct spelling because Thai does not use the English alphabet so any spelling is just an approximation. Rice is strictly the staple food for every family in Thai. steamed glutinous rice is packed in a wicker basket made from bamboo splints or palmyra palm leaves. I was told the norm is to start a meal with abit of just plain rice, this is to signify that rice is the basic of all meal...i tried it and it taste really good..with just merely rice..and of course I enjoyed the rest the dishes , real good..yummy!
